✦ Hormone Replacement Therapy Madison, WI
Hormone Care Built Around You.
Physician-led hormone therapy for women and men in Madison, WI. Dr. Emilia Ruiz, MD, a board-certified internal medicine physician, looks at your symptoms, health history and labs, then builds a plan that fits you.
What Is Hormone Optimization?
Hormone levels shift with perimenopause, menopause, age and some health conditions. Those shifts can show up as hot flashes, poor sleep, low energy, mood changes or low libido. Hormone optimization means finding what’s behind your symptoms and, when it’s appropriate, treating it with prescription hormones at the right dose for you.
At Royal You Med Spa, hormone therapy is a medical program, not a product. Every plan starts with a consultation, and Dr. Ruiz decides on your labs, medication and dose.
Is Hormone Therapy Right for You?
Hormone therapy may be a good fit if you are:
- A woman in perimenopause or menopause
- A man with symptoms of low testosterone
- Living with an underlying health condition that affects your hormone levels
It may not be recommended, or may need a different approach, if you have:
- A history of breast, uterine or prostate cancer
- A history of blood clots, stroke or heart attack
- Unexplained vaginal bleeding
- Active liver disease
- A current pregnancy or are breastfeeding
- Plans to have children soon (for men, since testosterone can lower fertility)
Dr. Ruiz will review your full health history at your consultation.
✦ YOUR HORMONE PROGRAM
Treatment Options
Hormone therapy comes in several forms. Dr. Ruiz will recommend the hormones, form and dose that fit your symptoms and labs, then adjust them over time.
Creams
Topical
Applied to the skin. Dr. Ruiz chooses the hormone and strength for you.
Injections
Injectable
Given on a schedule Dr. Ruiz sets from your labs and symptoms.
Oral
Tablets or Capsules
Taken by mouth. A simple option for some hormones and some patients.
Some hormone medications we prescribe, such as creams, are compounded for individual patients by a licensed pharmacy. Compounded medications are not FDA-approved, and the FDA does not review them for safety, effectiveness or quality. Dr. Ruiz will explain your options, including FDA-approved alternatives, at your consultation.
