✦ GLP-1 Weight Loss Madison, WI
Lose Weight With a Physician in Your Corner.
Physician-supervised GLP-1 weight management in Madison, WI. Dr. Emilia Ruiz, MD, a board-certified internal medicine physician, builds and monitors your plan around your health, your labs and your goals.
What Is GLP-1 Weight Management?
GLP-1 medications act like a hormone your body already makes after you eat. They help regulate appetite and blood sugar, so many people feel full sooner and have fewer cravings. Paired with healthy habits, that can make steady weight loss more manageable.
At Royal You Med Spa, GLP-1 therapy is a medical program, not a product. Every plan starts with a consultation and lab work, and Dr. Ruiz makes every dosing decision.
Is GLP-1 Therapy Right for You?
GLP-1 therapy may be a good fit if you:
- Are 35 or older
- Have struggled to lose weight with diet and exercise alone
- Want a medically supervised plan rather than going it alone
It may not be recommended if you:
- Have baseline nutritional deficiencies
- Are receiving chemotherapy
- Are pregnant, breastfeeding or planning a pregnancy
- Have a personal or family history of medullary thyroid cancer or MEN2
- Have a history of pancreatitis
Your consultation includes a full health history review, and Dr. Ruiz will recommend treatment only if it’s safe for you.
✦ YOUR GLP-1 PROGRAM
Medication Options
Depending on your health history and goals, Dr. Ruiz may prescribe tirzepatide, semaglutide or liraglutide. Injectable and oral options are available, and Dr. Ruiz will recommend the medication, form and dose that fit you, then adjust it over time.
Tirzepatide
Injectable or Oral
Works on two of the body’s appetite-related hormones, GIP and GLP-1. Dr. Ruiz sets your dose and adjusts it as you progress.
Semaglutide
Injectable or Oral
A GLP-1 medication that helps regulate appetite and blood sugar. Dosing starts low and increases gradually.
Liraglutide
Injectable or Oral
An earlier-generation GLP-1 medication that may suit some health histories. Dr. Ruiz will discuss whether it’s right for you.
Some medications we prescribe are compounded for individual patients by a licensed pharmacy. Compounded medications are not FDA-approved, and the FDA does not review them for safety, effectiveness or quality. Dr. Ruiz will explain your options, including FDA-approved alternatives, at your consultation.
